On Friday 15
June, Chichester District Museum launches a quiz to celebrate both the
city's historic buildings and the project to build a new Chichester
District Museum.
Dr Ian Friel, Principal Curator of Chichester District Museum, said:
"The
quiz is called 'God is in the details' and takes its title from a quote
attributed to the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969). There
aren't any prizes for the right answers, but the quiz aims to help
people look more closely at some of the details of buildings in the
centre of Chichester. In addition, we hope they will learn more about
how those details have contributed to making the Chichester
streetscapes as we know them now."
Councillor Nick Thomas, Portfolio Holder for Culture, said:
"Chichester
has a rich and remarkable architectural heritage. I hope that both
local people and visitors will use the quiz to increase their
understanding and enjoyment of what they see".
The quiz is
free and can be collected from the Chichester District Museum, which
has free admission and is at 29 Little London, Chichester, PO19 1PB,
off East Street (tel: 01243 784683). The Museum is open Tuesday –
Saturday, 10.00 am - 5.30pm, and closed on Sunday and Monday.
