Chichester District Council will be host to 30 Government officials from Asia and Africa on Wednesday, who are in the country to look at examples of good practice in Local and Central Government.
Chichester was chosen after it was awarded ‘Excellent’ status by the Audit Commission. As one of 28 district councils to be awarded ‘excellent’ status, the Council has been contacted and visited by numerous councils from home and abroad to share its best practice over the past few years.
‘We are delighted to welcome our colleagues from Asia and Africa to Chichester,’ said Myles Cullen, Leader of Chichester District Council.
‘The afternoon is a chance for us to share best practice with fellow councils from a range of countries, across a number of areas, including financial management, performance management and working with Central Government. The Council is one of only five district and borough councils in the country to score top marks for the way in which it manages taxpayers’ money, and so I am sure that this area will be of particular interest.
‘It is important that councils share ideas and best practice, in order to create better services for residents. This can help from a range of angles – from efficiency gains to innovation – and so benefits everyone.’
Crown Agents, formally a Government owned training agency, has arranged the visit to Chichester. Whilst in England, the officials from Asia and Africa will visit a number of leading Central and Local Government authorities to share best practice.
