£100,000 grant boosts StreetSport programme |

Young people in Havant are set to benefit from a £100,000
Football Foundation grant after StreetSport - a partnership
initiative by Hermitage Housing and Havant Borough Council –
submitted a successful funding bid.
art of the £100,941 award – which will be phased over the next
three years - will be used as start up costs for several term-time
after school football clubs across the borough. The rest will go
towards expanding the current StreetSport summer programme.
Denise Rajchel, Head of Community Investment at Hermitage
Housing, said: "We’re thrilled that we are now able to fulfil our
vision of expanding StreetSport.
Our bid had the full support of the Football Association and
will enable us to not only reach even more young people in the
borough, but also to encourage young people to go into Football as
a possible career.”
Kyle Hanna, Sports Development Officer for Havant Borough
Council added “For many young people sport can help to build
self-confidence, improve social skills and raise self esteem as
well as providing the obvious health and fitness benefits. This
award will enable more young people across the borough to access
sport and enjoy all the positive benefits that sport can bring.
