Details of the support services to be provided by Chichester District
Council for staff made redundant from BA Peters plc have been announced.
The luxury boat dealership was placed into administration last week,
and while it continues to trade, 130 people have been made redundant,
delivering a major blow to the local community.
Chichester
District Council will be writing to all staff being made redundant and
inviting them to a drop-in session at the district council offices in
East Pallant, Chichester, on August 28th between 10am-2pm.
They will then be able to get advice from a redundancy support officer
at the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) as well as
district council officers from the housing and benefits teams.
Any employee who would like to seek advice and support before this date can arrange an appointment by calling 01243 534669.
Councillor
Maureen Elliott, Economy Portfolio Holder for Chichester District
Council, said: "We were extremely sad to hear last week that BA Peters
plc had gone into administration with the subsequent loss of 130 jobs.
The company has had a positive effect on the local economy, both in
terms of employment and supporting activities in the district. It also
made a significant contribution to the UK marine industry.
"Our
Economic Development Service has been helping where it can, working in
partnership with SEEDA and other organisations, and through this
drop-in session, we will be offering as much support and guidance as
possible to the staff who have been made redundant."
Chichester
District Council Business Support Officers are available to discuss any
issue that impacts upon the growth and development of businesses in the
district. The team will provide a first class confidential support and
advice service without charge.
