Simple question from non-sailor 1 Year ago
Hi, I am in the process of writing a novel and have a scene set (on land) in the harbour. I obviously wanted to briefly describe the kind of boats there would be, and maybe a bit of lingo as to what they do in the water. A few verbs would be great! Any help much appreciated. Oh, and the book is set in 1969, if that makes any difference.
Thanks
Trevor

Hi Trevor,

I am not a huge expert but it the harbour would have had a fairly broad selecion of wooden sailing and motorboats, also quite a few fishing boats. The general boating terminology has not changed a great deal except at the racing end of the market.

Cheers

Stephen
